My birthday happens around Thanksgiving. In fact, I was born on Thanksgiving. What that means is that my birthday is always around Black Friday and usually I can score some pretty good deals for myself. Last year, Blizzard put up their vanilla World of Warcraft on sale for $5 over the weekend. Being the unselfish person that I am, I decided to buy a copy for my wife for my birthday.
Ok. So I still haven’t played that much Star Trek Online… but I was able to login last night with my buddy (and GEEX podcast co-host) Kurt Beckstrom to mess around for a bit. I had just finished the noob area and had docked with a starbase in orbit around Earth… (more…)
The Stone Prisoner is a piece of DLC that came included with your “new” purchase of Dragon Age: Origins (as opposed to buying it used at GameStop or whatever). The regular purchase price for the DLC is $15. Basically you run into a guy who offers you a control rod that can be used to activate a stone golem in a nearby town. Well, the town is also overrun by darkspawn that you have to clear out in order to finish the quest line and gain access to the golem named Shale. It also involves a cat, a little girl, and a desire demon (YES!).
I went and saw Avatar again with my wife (her first time) and some friends and it was just as good if not better the second time. We saw it in IMAX 3D of course. My wife even liked it! Anyways… I was hunting around the internet for some screenshots for a secret project I’m devising and I couldn’t help but be blown away AGAIN by how amazing the CG is in this movie. Absolutely incredible. I cannot wait for the BluRay to come out with all the crazy behind the scenes stuff. I caught some of it on FX last night really late and they are doing some amazing things. I think I need to see the movie one more time before it leaves theaters and I think I will see it in 2D just for something different. I hear that both 3D and 2D are good (and different) in their own ways.
So I’ve really been digging Dragon Age: Origins. Of all the games I got for Christmas and during the Steam holiday sale, I’ve been putting the most time into it… well, except for Braid. There are a lot of things that really make this game special.
